Lyon Landscape Architects was founded with the belief that communities are stronger when we donate our time and money benefiting those in need. With this belief, Marty founded 100 Men Who Care, a men’s philanthropy group giving cash gifts to non-profit organizations in the Wood River Valley. 100 Men Who Care meets once a quarter, for 1 hour each meeting. At the meeting we discuss local organizations, why they should receive our gift and vote. The organization with the most votes receives our cash gift. Each member writes a check for $100. Our on-going goal is to have 100 men participate each quarter, allowing us to give $10,000 gifts to deserving non-profit organization.
As of April 2015, we have given cash gifts of $32,700. Recipients have been: Ketchum Community Dinners, $1,600; NAMI, $1,600; Wood River Fire and Rescue, Fire Fighters Association, $2,200; St. Thomas Playhouse, $3,200; The Senior Connection, $3,100; The Hunger Coalition, $3,400; Hospice of Wood River Valley, $3,500; Sawtooth Botanical Garden, $4,000; Souper Supper, $5,000; and the Wood River Orchestra, $5,100.
